Women United raise money for the Traveling Tree House

Women United and friends enjoy a girls night out! Shopping silent auction, playing Bingo and pledging membership to raise money to support Traveling Tree House and United Way Education Initiatives.

Women United and friends came together on Friday, April 19th to support the Traveling Tree House. Nearly 200 women gathered at Crooked Willow for a fun girls night out complete with bingo, taco bar, silent auction, raffle and friends.

This year, through the annual event and membership pledges Women United has raised over $20,000. These dollars are so important; they allow United Way to continue the Traveling Tree House and support United Way Education Initiatives such as preschool scholarships for low income families.

The Traveling Tree House is a mobile learning center that brings literacy programming to Douglas County parks throughout the summer. The Tree House is a FREE program, geared toward students Pre K - 11 years old. This program offers a fun, engaging way to prepare our youngest learners for kindergarten and combat summer learning loss for elementary school students. Each child leaves the program with a new (gently used) book of choice to continue reading throughout the week!

The Women United group and fundraiser has been vital to supporting and growing the Tree House program over the years. In 2019 when the Traveling Tree House bus was no longer fit to provide programming, Women United provided financial support for a new Traveling Tree House/United Way support vehicle. Women United continued their fundraiser and silent auction in virtual form in 2020 and 2021. Allowing for the program to continue during the pandemic in a hybrid model. This summer the Traveling Tree House is now expanding to include 2 additional park locations.

We want to extend a special thank you to this years top event sponsors. $1000: CEG, Douglas Machine, Integrity Title and Massman Automation. $500: 320 Dental Studio, Backhaus Properties, Greenleaf Learning Studio, Snyder Thornburg Wealth Management and Thrivent Action Teams. Sponsor donations allow all proceeds from the fundraiser to go straight to our cause! Special thank you to these businesses for allowing us to create a wonderful night for the Women United group.

Finally, we want to extend our heartfelt "thank you" for Women United and friends for their continued support! If sharing the love of learning or literacy is a passion of yours consider pledging membership with Women United. Membership is a $100 donation that goes straight to the Traveling Tree House program and United Way Education Initiatives.
