C.R.E.W. Community Schools Program Introduction

We are thrilled to announce the United Way C.R.E.W. Community Schools Program launch in partnership with Alexandria Public Schools and local organizations. This initiative aims to strengthen the connection between our community and the school, ensuring students and families can access the resources they need to thrive.

What is C.R.E.W.?

Community Resources Engagement and Wrap-around services

What is a Community School?

A community school program provides resources and community connections for students, families, and community members to access vital services. A United Way C.R.E.W. Coordinator will be present at Woodland Elementary School and the Early Education Center and will be responsible for coordinating and connecting the community school program at those sites. In addition to United Way and the Alexandria Public Schools, this position partners with community organizations to give referrals to service providers and is responsive to the needs of the families by coordinating components which are non-school-related. The C.R.E.W. Coordinator will respond to the needs of students, their families, and the community.

We believe that partnerships are the heart of a community school program’s success. Whether you’re a local business owner, service provider, parent/guardian, or simply a community member looking to make a difference, there are many ways to get involved. For more information, contact Jen Jabas at United Way of Douglas & Pope Counties at jjabas@uwdp.org or 320-834-7800.

Together, we can build a vibrant, supportive community that ensures every child and family thrives.

Warm regards,
