Hours: Monday–Thursday/Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
JOB SUMMARY:
The Impact and Engagement Manager is responsible for developing, planning, and following through on programming for both offices of the organization. This position includes coordination of programming for Douglas, Pope, and Todd Counties while providing guidance and assistance to Otter Tail and Wadena Counties. This position will determine needs, procedures, and goals, facilitate meetings, recruit and engage volunteers, mobilize community members, and have positive community outreach. Other duties include overseeing daily operations, detailed record keeping and reporting, maintaining/adhering to a budget, assisting with marketing program initiatives, volunteer recruitment, and strong written and verbal communications. This position works closely with the Executive Director to support impact and engagement in both United Way Offices.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Impact & Engagement Programs and Initiatives (Organization-Wide)
- Develop, implement and follow through United Way programs and initiatives. Provide direction and assistance across the region.
- Oversee record keeping systems, communication timelines, and all other means of organization relevant to programming.
- Research, collect data and provide coordination, implementation, and evaluation of Community Impact Programs to achieve goals.
- Work collaboratively with other area businesses, agencies and individuals to assure positive relationships through programming.
- Provide leadership and work direction to the Administrative Support Assistant (Fergus Falls / Perham Offices).
- Facilitate the Community Impact Coalition across the region.
- Maintains database of all volunteer opportunities and information.
- Develop program training materials for volunteers who assist with programs.
- Maintain accurate records and acknowledgment processes in CRM Lite.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and local/state regulations.
- Serve as a liaison between both offices to ensure aligned operations and communication.
Community Impact Coordination (Douglas, Pope & Todd Counties)
- Coordinate and implement impact programs and initiatives in Douglas, Pope, & Todd Counties.
- Track and report on program participation, community outcomes, and relevant data.
- Assist with the annual community investment process, including outreach, logistics, and communication with agencies.
- Strengthen partnerships with local coalitions, civic groups, and service agencies to enhance impact and visibility.
Volunteer Coordination (Douglas, Pope & Todd Counties)
- Coordinate volunteer-related activities, including attending meetings, and volunteer recruitment.
- Organize and implement impact programs and events, and provide donor recognition activities to foster engagement.
- Oversee and provide directions to volunteers during programs or other assigned duties.
Other Duties as Assigned
- Schedule, attend, and prepare paperwork for internal or external meetings.
- Attend training or events relevant to the position or assigned by the Executive Director.
- Help ensure alignment in cross-office communication, reporting, and culture.
- Collect and generate all necessary reports required by the Executive Director or Board of Directors.

Working Conditions:
- Primarily work in a traditional office setting with intermittent off-site work.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours required for events or meetings.
Supervision of Other Employees:
- Provides work direction to the Office Manager (Fergus Falls Office) regarding impact and engagement and direction and supervision of program staff (Alexandria Office)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’ or Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, human services, or related field preferred.
Experience:
- 3–5 years of experience in program coordination, staff supervision, and volunteer coordination.
- Previous nonprofit and community engagement experience is strongly preferred.
Special Knowledge or Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across offices with minimal direction.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to relate to diverse individuals and groups.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven environment.
